Remember how I told y’all that my editor had access to Coven Witch (Born Elementals 2)? Well… Let’s just say: I was right! The manuscript passed her editorial exam with flying hearts! As in: The manuscript really is almost ready to make its pending ✨debut✨.

Take that, Writing Hydras 🐉! Sneaky little asshats. You can’t hold me down! (I mean, you can. And you do. But I’m winning atm, so gargle these lady balls!)

😳 Oh. Hi, y’all. Didn’t see ya there…

Once the final edits are put in place, I’ll be peeling the hydras’ eyes for ARC victims 😎. I’ll also be battling them for finding time to create a signup form… But I’ll send out the info when everything’s ready. Then the selected victims will get a free Advance Reader Copy of the ebook in exchange for their honest review. 😇

To thwart future hydras from creeping up on me and delaying my again, I’ve created an editing and publication schedule for me and my editor to keep track of due dates. Hydras like to invade her life, too, so I’m hoping the schedule keeps us both on track in spite of any new hydra heads making an appearance.

Work-In-Progress Wednesday # 2

Yas, Queen! Progress.

Happy New Year, and may the gods ever be in your favor…

Hope the holiday season treated you well. I spent my Yuletide week running around like a tree with its branches lopped off. Kinda hard to get anything done without limbs, y’know? And with roots holding ya in place… heh.

I spent the 25th with my grandma, but instead of the Christmas movies I thought she might want to watch, we went “old school” on they asses. Trust me when I say: You haven’t lived until you’ve shared the glory that is White Chicks with your 90-year-old grandma. She chuckled the whole way through, even sometimes dabbing at her eyes with a tissue during the emotional scenes. Sometimes those endings just like to jostle your contact lenses.

Now, to our regularly scheduled program…

In my previous, very short Progress Update post, I mentioned life is a hydra, and it’s after my head. Problem is, my head doesn’t grow back. So I keep on keeping on, fruitlessly trying to slay the beast. That said, I have made some progress toward future publications.

While publish dates are still TBD, I want to revisit some of my previous updates about my .

After agonizing over the opening chapter of Coven Witch (Light of Chaos: Born Elementals # 2), I’ve gone ahead and passed the current manuscript to my editor for initial review. While I feel like the draft is well on its way to the next stages (as far as content goes), that remains to be seen. Editors have a keen eye, and I might be overly confident in my assessment LOL. You can find the tentative book blurb on the Born Elementals series page.

Look forward to a cover reveal at some point, as well as the opportunity to receive an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. If selected, please do honor the agreement for an honest review. When the hydra stops trying to bite my head off, I’ll create a sign-up page, along with expectations. But that’s also a beast for another day.

Speaking of that series, in early 2024, I published my FREE novelette Elite Hunter (Light of Chaos: Born Elementals # 1). On March 1, 2024, I published an extended-length chapter that serves as an official epilogue to Elite Hunter. You can download the FREE chapter at the end of Elite Hunter on amazon. It directly follows the last chapter of Elite Hunter and is from Rin’s POV. So, if that gives you a reason to keep reading and to not come for my head (like the damn hydra), please wait to kill me until after you’ve seen a glimpse of what’s to come next in the World of Chaos.

BookFunnel hosts the epilogue, and it will prompt you to sign up for this newsletter, but that’s an *optional* feature (and obviously, some of you are already signed up), so feel free to bypass that option. I’d honestly hoped to have it published by November 2024, considering how long I’ve been working on it, but: RE: hydra. It’s only just recently gone through the first round of content edits, and that was with me hating sections of it. So. Yeah.

Season’s Greetings

🎶 ‘Tis the Season to be Naughty 🎶

The end of the year seems to have both taken a million years to get here and to have also snuck up on me to sock me in my lady bits out of nowhere. Probably that damn hydra I’ve been trying to take out for the last 9+ months. That ruthless bastard.

*Ahem*

Anyway, it’s the holiday season again. (Weird how that keeps happening, y’know?)

Happy [insert your holiday here] to you. Or Un-holiday, to those of you who don’t celebrate. I hope your upcoming weeks are blessed and beautiful, or sleepy and comfy, or just “good.” Being “just good” is more than enough. “Just existing,” too. Holiday cheer doesn’t mean you have to be cheerful if you’re not feeling it. And y’all, Feels™️ to that.

I normally spend my holidays off blissfully doing nothing to try to recover from the long work week. Sleep all day. Stay up too late. Hit snooze too many times the next workday… But this year, I’ll be spending the holidays with my grandma, taking quality time to watch no less than 5 Christmas movies. If you have any suggestions, yeet them at me. We’ve exhausted the A Christmas Prince universe over our last several November birthday and holiday visits.

I’ve had several unexpected “real life” adversities decide to reach out like a hydra with far too many heads and throw themselves into my path. The long-term impacts of those things have snowballed into a massive heap of “WTF” that needs to be untangled. As y’all can imagine, that’s affected my .

Work-In-Progress Wednesday # 1

Finally, Queen! Some News.

Welcome to the first official Work-in-Progress Wednesday, where I’ll give you a look into the absolute chaos in my . For the most part, these will be brief updates about one of the plethora of WIPs that is currently making me pull my hair out by the roots. Each project is staring balefully at me from the depths of my Files folder, and I can feel their glares drilling through my soul…

To put that into perspective, I have over 20 drafted manuscripts made up of full-length, novella-length, and novelette-length WIPs. Over 15 of those are full-length, reaching over 130k words on average, with the longest being an outlier of 265k words.

I’ll give you a moment to let that sink in…

Due to unforeseen health issues that impacted my ability to edit, my original publishing timeline for this trilogy has been affected. Did someone Say FREE!?

Welcome to the first “official” Freebie Friday, where I give you free stuff cus it’s my party, and I’ll eat my cake too. (I just heard several of you scream reading that mixed quote. Not. Sorry). Expect to see ~exclusive~ content approximately once per month…but RE: It’s my party, so I do what I want. (Insert Oprah meme: AND YOU GET A—)

Today, I’m going to refer back to content that’s already on my site since most people don’t know it’s there. (Stalker alert: I can see page clicks on my site, and the existing stories rarely get attention). In y’all’s defenses, the landing page got lost in the site navigation feature before I went in last month and meticulously slaughtered my website for your viewing pleasure.

(And guess what: GASP! Those short stories have seen an increase in views! Yayyyyy!)

Anyway. Back to free shit.

To any of you who HAVE recently found those short stories, I can confidently say that you haven’t seen the updated content that I added to an older post. (RE: stalker alert).

So, to get your daily laughs and giggles in, start with the blog post titled “Character Introductions.” In this post, our first core group of characters introduce themselves to you, the reader. In the added additions beneath those, other new faces introduce themselves.

New Authors for Me & YOU!

What glory that today has struck my eyes blind with from the sheer number of free letters now swimming within the depths of my irises.

Mindi Briar, LGBTQ+ author local to the Greater Seattle Area, shared a little secret with me—so of course, I have to tell all of you! 😏 She’s just one of several dozens of authors participating in the “Free Science Fiction & Fantasy Story Giveaway” being hosted on Bookfunnel by other authors. The giveaway has already started and goes through the end of February—so you’ll wanna dive into the book-sea soon cus, my friends, there are SO MANY books to choose from!

(TBH, why choose? GET THEM ALL! MUAHAHAHA!!! [ahem]).

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m always on the hunt for LGBTQ+ authors who write authentic characters. Mindi has proven her ability to do so for years now, starting with her debut novel Adrift in Starlight. Set in The Halcyon Universe, Adrift follows touch-adverse historian Aisha Malik and gender-neutral courtesan Titan Valentino as they’re sent adrift together through space with quirky allies and a revived alien fossil. You can’t help but fall in love with them all.

One of my favorite things about Mindi is that she’s thorough in her research of LGBTQ+ identities that she doesn’t identify with. She uses beta and sensitivity readers for all her content! Knowing she goes the extra mile for our community makes her one of my top go-to authors.

I know I personally appreciate aromantic rep as someone who identifies as aro—among several other identities. (RE: Rainbow Soup). So, let’s talk about her free short story available in the Mega Giveaway!
